Elisabetta Risso

My primary rule is to treat my clients as I would like to be treated if I were in their shoes.

I provide counselling for a wide range of needs, including stress and anxiety, angst, decision fatigue, self-esteem and identity, low mood, grief, multicultural and immigration issues, cultural challenges, emotional isolation and relationship problems.

My counselling practice is person-centered, integrating humanistic and mindful principles within a Gestalt framework. I hold master’s degrees in Psychology, Modern Literature and Communication Science, a postgraduate diploma in Gestalt Therapy, and a bachelor’s degree in Marketing, which contributes to my interdisciplinary approach.

I consider ongoing professional development to be a vital part of my practice. I continuously pursue further education and conduct research to stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in the counselling field, allowing me to provide comprehensive assistance to my clients.
I welcome working with a diverse clientele, including young and older adults, encompassing various cultural, social, ethnic, and moral backgrounds.

In my therapy room, you can explore your worries and concerns, no matter how big or small, within an empathetic, mindful space designed to help you overcome emotional and cognitive challenges. We should gradually shift our focus from the external story to our internal experience, thus enabling us to understand our role within our narrative. Within Gestalt principles, it’s crucial to unify environmental and personal elements, and to claim responsibility for your emotions. Transitioning from relying on external support to self-sufficiency can be initially difficult, but it eventually leads to self-acceptance, independence, and serenity.

Our work together will center on helping you feel less burdened, identify negative habits and thought patterns, and overcome emotional challenges like feeling stuck, relationship strain, and unresolved issues.

Within such a multicultural context, the interactions I have with others foster open-mindedness and understanding of the importance of harmonious human connections, and I feel grateful for the chance to continue learning and living in a multicultural environment.

As a registered professional, I adhere to the code of conduct of the Canadian Counsellor and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA) and the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellor (BCACC).
